Again I am so excited to have you on my team as we bring wellness to the world together. By now I am sure you are connected with all the FB Groups, finishing up your training videos, and wanting to get your business started on the right foot!
Here are some of the main things that I use in my day-to-day business that will help you! Please know that NONE OF THIS IS MANDATORY!!! They are just some really helpful tools/resources/products that have helped me run my business, and might help you as well!
As mentioned in training, make sure you did these few things: you made a business email of some sort (firstandlastname.yl@gmail or something like that!) to keep business and personal emails separate, you have direct deposit set up in your Virtual Office, and you know where to find your enrollment link. (I like to keep it in a Note in my phone so its easy to copy & paste anytime someone needs it!)
Link in Bio
One of the easiest ways to build your business, other than one on one with the people you know, is doing it online through social media! And my favorite platform to do that on is Instagram. So if that is one way you are going to be sharing, then you definitely need a “Link in Bio” link. Because you only have the option to put one link, there are a few ways where your one link can house a bunch of other links. The best FREE way to do this is Milkshake and you can sign up with them here.
From there make sure to put your enrollment link, your MyYL site if you have one, and any other links that would be helpful in getting people started with Young Living & their wellness journey with you. You can also customize it with your picture so that it looks professional and make it match your style.
A link in your bio is a must for people sharing online, because without a link to get to your site, how can they ever enroll with you? And this is, in my opinion, a great way to do it!
Emails / Messaging
One thing that you will need to be in charge of is talking with potential customers, getting new customers all the information that they need, helping people with questions, figuring out who wants to be a Brand Partner, and then how to get those people the information that they need.
To be honest, a lot of this I just do individually through text and DM’s but it is helpful to at least save a “template” of all the information and links they would need to know maybe in your Notes or somewhere else where you can easily access it. (Sign up Instructions, Your Enrollment Link, What they need to know once they become a Customer, Interested Brand Partners, Once they Become a Brand Partner, etc!) But especially when you are just starting out, this is 100% doable to do one by one! Just get those “templates” or important points & links written out beforehand with all the info they would need.
But if you want to automate things a little more, the best way that I have found to do this is with an email management system. The one that I use is ConvertKit and you can check it out right here. I use the version that is $30/month.
In it I have certain “tags” (ie “Customer”, “Interested in YL”, “Brand Partner”) and then Automated Sequences of emails that get sent out when people are tagged each thing. It is very helpful to make sure everyone gets what they need, and are automatically followed up with. If you are interested in how to do this, just let me know and I will walk you through it.
Another option when you are JUST getting started is MailChimp. There is a free version that may work just fine for you. With that you can tag people “customer” or “brand partner” and have them get a single automatic message. You can also save a few pre written email templates for if someone is interesting in being a brand partner, has an issue with their order, etc you can send out an email one by one when that conversation comes up.
So you figure out what works for you! Most of my talking to people is just one on one in DM’s and I just use email to get them important info.
One thing that I really like doing for people is sending out what I call “Happy Mail”. This can include sending people samples of an oil or two to try for whatever they are dealing with/needing, this can include little giveaways you do on social media, or small thank you/welcome packages for new customers.
I like to make it so that potential customers, or new customers, can see & try what is available to them through Young Living. In your next rewards order, maybe think of adding Thieves toothpaste and cleaner samples, Ningxia Red packets, Alkalime sticks, or extra bottles of the most requested oils, whatever you can do to introduce them to new product that they will enjoy & want for themself.
And it is actually really easy to send packages out yourself with a pre-bought shipping label (if you don’t want to go in and stand in line at the post office each time). All you need is a free USPS Account and you can create shipping labels here. You will need a scale though to weigh your packages, but I have the cheap one listed below and it saves SO much time.
Here are all my “Happy Mail” Essentials (these are just ideas so I’m sure Amazon will show you other options so you can make it your own! The little plastic baggies are good to have in case sample oils spill. The sprayer, dropper bottles, and rollers are good if you want to make & giveaway little perfumes, face serums, or roller bottles.)
My YL Site
Another way that is super helpful to get potential customers involved in Young Living is through Customized Wellness Bundles. Because not everyone wants to become a member through a big kit of oils they might never use. Sometimes they need something specific, and so you can actually build up to 40 Customized Bundles for people using your MyYL site. Then you can share those links with people when they reach out to you with a specific need.
This service is $9.95/month, charged on the same card you use for your Young Living Products, and you can find it in your Virtual Office, under the MY ACCOUNT Tab. Again, NONE OF THIS IS MANDATORY!! Just giving you some options that you may be interested in doing!
Invest in Yourself
To be successful in this business in the long term, I want you investing in your mindset, your leadership and your business. One of the BEST books that most people read when joining Young Living is “The Four Year Career”. You can get a PDF version of it for free here! (PS its only like 90 pages, so not long)
I also highly recommend the Podcast by Kristen Boss called “Purposeful Social Selling”. She talks a TON on mindset and how to not make our job feel “salesey” but service driven. (If you listen on Apple Podcasts, you can find it here)
I also really love the Audiobook “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki. You can listen to it for free here on YouTube. Obviously I don’t agree with everything he says (as a Christian, my life goal is not to be rich, it is to be faithful to God) BUT he has tons of financial wisdom that has been the same way my husband and I approach financial decisions and goals.
And here are a few other recommended books that will help your mindset, your leadership, and your business.
Also, in order for you to be “a product of the product” you have to actually love, use, and enjoy our products. The more you fall in love with oils and all Young Living has to offer, the more others will see it. So make sure to try as many of the different products so you know how they can be a benefit to people, and so people can see you using it. Every purchase you may with Young Living is a great INVESTMENT into your business and in service to others. Also, here are some of my favorite things that help me live the “oily life”.
So I hope those little pieces of information will help & inspire you as you begin your business of sharing wellness with the world. Excited to see you spread your wings & fly!
